(No. 5) – Legend of Zelda 3 (Super Nintendo Entertainment System)
What do you do, when you have a lot of people in one spot wearing costumes of heroes and villains from a famous franchise? DANCE OF COURSE!! 8D. This Japanese commercial told so much about that game that one’s curiosity could only check it out. Of course the game itself is one of the best the series had to offer, it only makes sense to have the commercial the same way. The dance choreography is done so smoothly that is makes it so fun and the Ganon puppet did steal the show when it arrived, though this did give out a spoiler in the end.
“By the way, you wanted to dance to the music too when you first saw this didn’t you?” XP
(No.4 ) – Super Mario Advance 3 / Yoshi Island (Gameboy Advance)
Pictures can paint a thousand words, though an animation on a loved Nintendo character and paint smiles on all. With gorgeous animation in between the gameplay footage, I definitely remembered one of the games I got as a Christmas present. I hoped that they would use animation like this for a cartoon series, but we have yet to see something that awesome. This too is a Japanese commercial, but you don’t need to understand what is said to enjoy what is shown here.
It’s fantastic in my opinion for something short and sweet. 😀
(No. 3) – Super Mario Bros (Atari 2600)
Who didn’t/doesn’t like the atmosphere, the props, the costumes and characters that setup the hectic situation here when it first aired on television? Not to mention the hilarious song that plays throughout the commercial that points out accurately how zany everything can get when all the creatures are on the attack. This commercial had a lot of effort put into it, and still has a charm to it that will mostly likely not fade away anytime soon. Check it out for 30 seconds of hilarity.
“Boy! Luigi (and Mario) have their work cut out for them huh?”
(No.2) – Super Mario Kart (Super Nintendo Entertainment System)
One of those commercials that succeeded in getting me pumped to buy a game (Though this was years afterwards). The announcer speaks so quickly that it makes the commercial so wild and out of control. As your mind tries to keep up with all the slogans and puns being thrown at you, you are shown lots of fantastic gameplay that would make any Super Mario enthusiast want to pester their parents into purchasing the game.
“Remember you are playing with SUPER POWER!”
(No.1) – Super Smash Bros (Nintendo 64)
This is a commercial that everyone can remember and enjoy. It starts off so innocently and then before you know it, insanity ensues as Mario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong and Pikachu beat each other up! When I first watched this, I didn’t know what to expect. I also questioned why Pikachu was there as he was the odd one out. Then I started laughing my head off at what went on. I was also instantly drawn to the videogame being presented as I thought it was genius idea. This commercial was so well done, that it even to this day it’s the first thing anyone will think of if asked to think of a videogame ad for a Nintendo based fighting game. Tonnes of effort went into this and it will never get old in my opinion. Watch it, you will love it! XD
“This is how a live action Super Smash Bros should be done!”
Cool background music, funny narration, adventurous atmosphere and a guy calling out “ZELDA!!” a lot. xD
“Now you’re playing with Power!”
